What size is 6.5Y in women's shoes?
A 6.5Y is a women's 8 at Jordan, New Balance and Nike, whose charts print both on one row. Of the 10 brands we can compare, 6 have a 6.5Y row: 5 give women's 8, 1 gives women's 7.5.

Y to women's, brand by brand
"Printed" means the chart lists both on one row. "Matched" means we paired the big kids' and women's charts by the length each lists, within 3.5 mm on the same scale. Some brands print big kids' sizes without the Y; they are shown under the same column. A blank means the brand has no such row or no match within 3.5 mm.

Adding 1.5 to the Y number works on every Nike row above. Across all 10 brands the difference runs from 1 to 2.5, so use the row rather than the rule.

What Y means
Y marks big kids' sizes on the charts that use it; Nike labels the range "Big kids' shoes (1Y-7Y)". The number restarts at each stage, which is why our kids' table is keyed by EU size. On Nike's chart the Y number matches the men's number: 6.5Y is men's 6.5.
Check it with your foot length
Length is what the two charts have in common. Nike's big kids' chart lists 6.5Y at 24.3 cm. Its women's chart lists a women's 8 at 24.5 cm, so even a brand that prints them side by side shows 2 mm between its two charts.

5.5Y and the rest
For 5.5Y, 5 give women's 7, 1 gives women's 7.5, 1 gives women's 6.5. The table above has the others.
These tables compare labels and lengths, not the shape of the shoes. See how much room brands say to leave and the width letters.
