Why your size changes from brand to brand

US, UK and EU shoe sizes are three separate numbering systems, and no law fixes how they line up. Each brand decides which UK size sits next to which EU size, how far apart its half sizes are and how long a foot each size is meant for. Some brands list the length of the foot a size fits; others list the length of the shoe's inside. The result is that the same EU 42 can be a US men's 8.5 in one brand and a 9 in another, and the centimetre figure can differ by several millimetres.

That is why this site does not publish one "universal" conversion chart. Each brand page shows the brand's own chart, copied from its official size guide with the date we checked it and a link back, so you can see exactly what the brand says.

How to use the converter

  1. Choose the brand you know your size in, the size system printed on your shoe (US, UK, EU or centimetres) and your size.
  2. The converter shows that row of the brand's official chart, then the size in every other brand whose chart lists the closest length.
  3. Differences in millimetres show how close the match is. A mark shows brands that measure a different length (foot or shoe), where a match can be half a size off.

For the best result, measure your foot and compare your length in centimetres with the chart of the brand you are buying.

What each brand page contains

  • Links to the brand's official website, size guide, store locator, help pages and regional sites.
  • The brand's official size charts for men, women and sometimes kids, with the source and the date checked.
  • Width options and fit advice, but only where the brand itself publishes them.
  • How the brand's chart compares with the other brands for a common size, measured in millimetres.
  • A list of anything we could not verify, instead of guessed numbers.

Questions

Are these size charts official?

Yes. Each chart is copied from the brand's own website or official size guide, with a link to the source and the date it was checked. Brands update their guides, so the brand's own page is always the final word.

Why is there no single shoe size conversion chart?

Because brands do not convert sizes the same way. A single chart would be wrong for some brands by half a size. Comparing brand charts by length is more reliable.

How does the brand-to-brand converter work?

It takes the length your brand's chart lists for your size and finds the size with the closest listed length in each other brand's chart. It compares lengths only on the same scale: a measured foot length with a measured foot length, a size in centimetres with a size in centimetres. You can also enter your own foot length. Where brands measure different things (foot or shoe length) the result is marked.

Is this site affiliated with any shoe brand?

No. Sizelane is independent. It links to official brand websites so you can buy and check sizes there.

Which brands are included?

Official size charts for 107 sneaker, running, casual, outdoor, boot and sandal brands, and official links for 169 brands in the brand directory. More brands will be added.
